Auditory learner or illiteracy? You decide.

So the plantation has decided to motivate the employees.

I was called into a meeting and apparently the Massa’nem have decided that the best way to do this is to force them to read a book called “Power of One”.
So I tell my employees that each one of them will have to read the book.
The following conversations transpired with a new employee.

Me: “Team you will each be required to read the short book, the Power of One. The book is very short and should take no more than an hour at most”.

New employee jumps up in anger “what! We gotta read?”
“I don’t read”
I said, I don’t know that that’s a good thing?
NE:What? I don’t read, it makes me sleepy. Even in school I didn’t read and I got good grades, now if someone reads to me I can listen and learn that way. Its called being an auditory learner”.

Me: “Well that explains why test scores take precedent over grades. That’s also not being an auditory learner, that’s a lack of reading comprehension skills. You might want to work on that. You have an hour to read the book and I will need you to write a short paragraph about it”.

NE” Man, I cant believe this, can I request someone read it to me?
Me: who do you think is going to do that? What I can do is reserve a room for you if you need to read out loud.
NE: But
Me:Yeah, our conversation about this is over.

Now people can you believe that? This guy is 26 years old. The book is 45 pages and its not even full length. Its one of those little square like books. You know like the ABC block books?
Yeah like that.

Reading is fundamental.
Oh and he’s a 2520.

It aint just us, yall.
